Satisfied
We live in a world fixed on chasing after more. We have more than most people throughout history ever dreamed of having. Yet we still want more. More of everything. This is one of the first songs I wrote several years back about being satisfied. About being content with what I have and thankful for the little things in life. For the record, I’ve never been a big Dr. Pepper fan, but for some reason I thought it fit and flowed well with the song.
Satisfied
Will Campbell
Eggs and bacon in the frying pan
A cup of coffee in my right hand
And a kiss goodbye as I head out the door
Fire up that rusted out Chevrolet
Head to the field where I work all day
I don’t make a lot but know what I’m working for
Satisfaction is a state of mind
You can’t use money to buy more time
So I spend my time and money the best I can
Everyday I thank the Lord up above
For this life He gave me with the ones I love
And for the little things that make me a happy man
Like a Dr. Pepper and an oatmeal pie
My good-looking honey that’ll hold me tight
Some ice cold Bud-wei-sers on a Friday night
With some good ol’ friends having a good ol’ time
I ain’t much for show; that ain’t my style
These worn out blue jeans suit me just fine
I’m a simple man; I live a simple life
And it don’t take much to keep me satisfied
Fried chicken on Sunday afternoon
Neighbors telling me to stop by soon
Walking at night by the moonlight counting stars
Radio playing our favorite tune
Dancing along in the living room
Just me and her happy to be here where we are
Old worn out jacket that my Grandpa gave me
Fishing on the creek bank watching the sun sink
Wearing my favorite faded John Deere cap
A peanut butter sandwich in my lunch sack
Catching a rainy day and taking a nap
I tell you life don’t get much better than that
Give me a Dr.
