Refreshing Rain, More of the Same...

Thankful for more rain. Twice this week we moved the chicken shelters during a rain shower. It felt good. Even the kids enjoyed it. It was nice to get the mower back out and see the grass coming back to life.

We killed almost 300 chickens on Wednesday and cut up about 125 of them. It rained most of the day. The pigs enjoyed the chance to make some mud in the woods. June was not a muddy month for them. The rain has not only cooled the pigs off, it’s cooled us all off a bit. It felt good all week.

We have four baby calves on the ground now. A few sections of fence needed patching. Amy delivered to Chilhowie and Abingdon on Monday. She made more broth later in the week. Nothing too eventful. More of the same.

This is a short update to a long week. I’m tired. Body and mind. I almost always listen to audiobooks or podcasts when farming by myself. This week I didn’t do any book listening. It was nice to have quiet work. To think. And not think. To clear my head and just work. And pray.

Have a good week.

Will
