More cold, Order fillin', Tallow Makin'
Another chilly week. Temps dropped down to zero Tuesday night. Looks like warmer days are ahead. I continued to keep the cows, pigs, and chickens, fed and watered. Took advantage of these cold days to run a few errands I had been putting off.
Amy and the girls delivered meat to Knoxville, while Hasten and I stayed back at the farm. Aside from teaching the kids, Amy made another batch of beef tallow yesterday. She’s rendering another round of pork lard today.
Yesterday afternoon we went ahead and filled February beef shares to know how much extra inventory to sell. Most of our meat goes into filling shares. Our inventory on the website and at the Abingdon Farmers Market is hit and miss. Sometimes we have what customers are looking for, but often we don’t. If you can’t find what your looking for, it’s not because we don’t have it, it’s because the ORVF Herd Shares are getting it. The surest way to get a steady supply of the best farm raised cuts is to join the herd. Pay monthly and get your half beef or quarter beef divided over the next 12 months. We also have herd share options for ORVF pasture raised pork and chicken.
That’s about it. Have a good week.
